Five area counties on COVID-19 warning level list

Five counties in South Central Illinois are on this week’s warning level list for the coronavirus disease.   Clinton, Clay, and Jefferson County are repeating from last week while Washington County is back after being removed last week.  Wayne County is also joining the list this week.  Effingham and Fayette County are being removed from the list.

The counties on the warning level list all are at positivity rates of over 8-percent and have at least one other factor resulting in the warning.Clay County’s rate is now the highest in the region at 15.9-percent.  Washington County is at 13.1-percent.  Jefferson County’s positivity rate is at 11.8-percent.  Clinton County’s rate has dropped to 10-percent.  Wayne County’s rate is 8.6-percent.

Marion County currently has a positivity rate of 7.6-percent for the week ending October 10th.

Fayette County’s rate is at 5.8-percent.
