The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting new COVID-19 deaths in Marion and Fayette Counties.

The department reports a female in her 80s has died in Marion County.  She is the county’s seventh COVID-19 related death.

IDPH is reporting two men in their 70s with COVID-19 have died in Fayette County.   Those are the 11th and 12th death in Fayette County.

Statewide, 2,905 new cases and 31 additional confirmed deaths of COVID-19 were reported on Saturday.  Other Southern Illinois deaths occurred in Union, Richland, Monroe, and Jersey Counties.

The state’s positivity rate has risen back to four percent for the past seven days an increase of six-tenths of a percent since last Saturday.  The Metro East Region which had additional restrictions lifted on Friday has seen a four-tenths of a percent increase in positivity rate to 6.2-percent.   The Southern Illinois Region has increased a tenth of a percent to 7.1-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region without Champaign County is also at a positivity rate of 7.1-percent.
