The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has identified a 34-year-old Salem man as the fatality in a car-semi crash last Thursday near South 2nd and Sidney around the Soulard neighborhood.
Police reports indicate a car driven by Brant Renfro was traveling eastbound on South 2nd at a high rate of speed when it ran a stop sign at Sidney Street and struck a tractor trailer truck.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital, where Renfro was pronounced dead from his injuries. Police said the 62-year-old truck driver was last reported in stable condition.
