A 69-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to 56 years in prison after earlier pleading guilty earlier in Marion County Court to two Class X felony charges of possession of child pornography.
Marion County State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says the case against James Nail was developed in 2025 through a tip made to the Illinois Attorney General’s cyber tip program. Investigator Amanda Wimmersberg testified they found 18,000 images on an external hard drive taken from Nail during a search warrant.
Judge Ericka Sanders agreed with the sentence Hudspeth requested. 28 years on each count, with the law requiring the terms to be served consecutive. Nail will have to serve at least 50-percent of the time.
