Salem Economic Development Director Leah Dellicarpini is stepping down after three years on the job to become the new Executive Director of the Jefferson County Development Corporation.
Both Salem Mayor Nic Farley and City Manager Lisa Peck are thanking Dellicarpini for her work. Peck is currently looking at the job description to make sure everything is lined out before the position is advertised. Farley says the city would not have been able to complete some of its successful projects without Dellicarpini. Dellicarpini plans to live in Salem and own Chico’s restaurant. The Jefferson County Development Corporation has been without an executive director since the passing for former director Tony Iriti in May.
In a thank you to the Salem Community, Dellicarpini says she is proud of the progress tie city has made by everyone working together. One of the things she is most proud of is the foundation that has been put in place for Salem’s future. Dellicarpini noted implementation of a new Strategic and Comprehensive Plan designed to provide greater direction and purpose for the community’s continued growth and development. In addition, the city has attracted more than $3 million in grant funding for infrastructure projects. 41 TIF agreements have been enacted, the west side TIF has been extended for 12 years and a new TIF-4 district established. Dellicarpini says the city has seen meaningful investment and revitalization throughout Salem, while manufacturing and industrial sectors have seen significant expansions as well.
Dellicarpini says Salem has so much going for it and with good leadership, a clear vision and the right people in the right seats, she believes the possibilities for Salem’s future are tremendous. She concludes by saying, “Thank you, Salem, for allowing me to serve.”
