Centralia High School Superintendent Chuck Lane says there has been nothing found in school e-mails to indicate any attempt to ‘groom’ a student or any other criminal wrong doing. He adds there has been no one fired over any inappropriate actions.
Lane has reviewed each of the e-mails released on a freedom of information request that may have spurred the claims on social media. He says there was nothing in the e-mails to indicate any ‘grooming’ or other sexual activity. Lane adds if any such items were found they would have been turned over to police immediately for investigation.
Lane notes the school district has added a program to their e-mail system this school year that will monitor and flag any inappropriate words or language to quickly catch any such activity.
Centralia Police Lieutenant Steve Whritenour confirmed earlier this week there was no investigation underway by either Centralia or State Police.
He added there have been no allegations made against the school resource officer whose alleged involvement has also been mentioned in some social media posts. Whritenour says the SRO has been doing an excellent job and remains on duty at the high school.
The mother of a student who is upset by the e-mails told WJBD-WSIQ news she has contacted a State Police agent in Centralia asking for an investigation.
(Story updated to include comment by mother indicating she has asked for a State Police investigation.)
