Salem Police arrested 35-year-old Edward Hurd of Westport Drive in Salem early Monday morning for aggravated fleeing and eluding police and other traffic tickets. Police attempted to stop Hurd on Airport Road near Mills Cart Road but didn’t stop until he pulled into the driveway of his home. Hurd was released on a notice to appear in court.
Salem Police arrested 53-year-old Phillip Swerson of Northwood Drive in Salem late Friday afternoon for alleged driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Police report Swerson parked in the street as they were about to stop him. He later allegedly struck the officer and had to be tazed before being taken into custody. He was later released on a notice to appear in court.
Illinois State Police arrested 29-year-old Colton Wood of Pope Road in Sandoval for alleged driving under the influence.
Salem Police arrested 45-year-old Nichole Gowers of Benton on an outstanding Marion County misdemeanor no bond failure to appear warrant.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a white Ford F150 pickup truck stolen from a home in the 2200 block of West Main in Salem sometime before 7:15 Saturday night. At last report, the truck had not been found.
