A 17-year-old Flora man was killed and a 21-year-old Louisville man injured in a single vehicle crash in Washington County early Sunday morning.
Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger pronounced Robert Trevor Green dead at the scene at 6:23 Sunday morning.
The coroner says Green was the restrained driver of a Kia sedan which was traveling north on Route 127 when it left the road, hit the west side guard rail and then became air born when it reached Locust Creek. The car then struck the north side of the creek embankment.
Green was extricated from the vehicle by the Nashville Fire Department along with another male passenger, identified by State Police as 21-year-old Austin Reid of Louisville. He was transported from the scene to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Green’s cause of death appears to be massive head trauma and the manner of death is accidental.
Toxicology samples were obtained by the coroner. An Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction unit responded to the scene as well.
Other agencies at the scene were the Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Nashville Fire Department, Washington County EMA and the Washington County Coroner.
