The Effingham Flex-N-Gate plant in Effingham has laid off all of its hourly employees until further notice due to the United Auto Workers strike against Ford, General Motors and Stellantis.
The Effingham plant has about 400 workers. The company has issued a statement saying understandably and regrettably, layoffs of hourly workers have resulted to the UAW strike. The statement goes on to say they all hope for a timely resolution.
The Effingham plant shutdown is specifically related to the strike at the Ford truck plant in Kentucky for which it makes parts.
The UAW strike began on September 15th against one plant of each of the automakers but has been expanding to additional plants.
