A Marion County Judge has ordered two people arrested over the weekend without bond under the new cashless bond law.
Judge Christopher Hantla ordered 26-year-old Daniel Johnston of South Poplar in Centralia held without bond after he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He was arrested by Centralia Police for possession of a switchblade knife with a prior felony conviction. If found guilty, Johnston will face a mandatory 2 to 10-year prison term. He was ordered held based on the mandatory prison term if convicted and the threat to the safety of the community based on Johnston’s past criminal history.
The judge also ordered 22-year-old Aryana Morgan of D’Ann Drive in Centralia held after she was charged with a petition to revoke her pretrial release. Morgan had been released without bond under the new cashless bond law last Friday on a new possession of methamphetamine charge. But she was arrested again on Saturday by Salem Police for criminal trespass and aggravated battery to a police officer charges.
