Crop conditions declined over the past week due to a lack of rain.
Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener has the condition report for soybeans and corn around the state.
“Soybeans are 92% emerged as of Sunday, that is 6-points ahead of one year ago and 17% ahead of normal pace. The condition of the Illinois soybean crop is reported as 9% very poor to poor, 44% fair and 47% good to excellent. The Illinois corn crop has now emerged on 97% of planted acres. That compares to 95% one year ago and 88% for the 5 year average. The crop was rated at 9% very poor to poor, 44% fair and 47% good to excellent.”
63% of winter wheat and 22% of pasture acres are rated in good to excellent condition.
Marion County received more rain than many areas around the state on Sunday, with 1.27 inches of rain recorded at the Salem Water Treatment Plant and 1.18 inches at the Centralia Water Treatment Plant.
