Mt. Vernon High School Superintendent Melanie Andrews says cleanup has been completed and there was no lasting damage from a senior prank that was carried too far.   Classes are resuming, as usual, Thursday for senior finals and regular classes for other students.

Classes had to be canceled on Wednesday when liquids and paper products were strewn around the school hallways.   She reports the facilities employees did a great job in cleaning up the mess.   Andrews says all that remains are a few stains from some of the paper, but says that will go away when the floors are stripped and rewaxed this summer.

Andrews says it appears entry was gained through a gym door either through code access or by being left ajar.   She is confident no staff was involved.

Andrews says security cameras, unfortunately, show ‘more than a handful’ of seniors doing the vandalism.  She reports they are currently being identified and will face discipline, but what that discipline will be has not yet been decided.
