The city of Centralia hosts the Historic Locust Street Fair from ten to two on Saturday.
Centralia Community Development Director Gayla Harting says the event is expanding again this year.
“The Southern Illinois Antique Power Club tractors will be on display this year in the same area as the large display of old guns and Civil War enactment on the south side of the museum. The museum will be open for everyone to see. Elmwood Speaks will be there speaking on the second floor inside the museum.”
Harting is also expecting a large car show in the 200 block of South Locust.
“We’re looking at about 80 antique classic cars coming in this year. You’ll then see the food area with 12 to 13 different food vendors. The 100 block of South Locust is always our craft and art vendors. We are packed this year. We have close to 60 vendors so we have really grown.”
There will also be Historic Walking Tours that will start at 10:15, 11:15, and 12:15 at the Illinois Theater. Tours will also be available of the Theater Lobby. Hank Jourdan will also perform. There will also be shuttle tours to Elmwood Cemetery at eleven and noon.
As a result of the Historical Fair, there will be no through traffic or parking allowed in the 100 and 200 blocks of South Locust from eight am to three pm. If you use the parking lot located on the Southwest corner of Locust and 2nd Streets, you must have your vehicle removed by 7:30 Saturday morning.
If you have questions you can call Centralia City Hall at 533-7623.
