The Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 tracker show COVID cases remain low across South Central Illinois.
Marion County had nine new or probable cases for the week ending Wednesday with one new hospitalization. Clinton County had four new cases and Jefferson County had eight new cases. Each had one new hospitalization. Washington County had three new cases and no hospitalizations. Fayette County had 11 new cases and Wayne County ten new cases. They also had no new hospitalizations in the past week. Clay County had no new cases or hospitalization.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow is reporting no new deaths and no congregate care facilities on outbreak status.
Statewide, six counties remain on elevated community levels of COVID. All six are along the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports a total of 5,584 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 for the week ending April 2nd. There were 16 deaths reported.
As of Thursday night, 568 Illinois residents were reported in the hospital from COVID-19. 61 were in ICU and 21 were on ventilators.
Through Project ACT, IDPH is distributing up to one million at-home antigen tests to 200,000 Illinois households. You can request one package of five tests on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Project ACT website. The tests will be delivered to the home address.
