Salem Fire Protection District officials say a 2009 Freight Liner cab was destroyed by fire late Wednesday morning.
Fire officials say Rodney King of Bethel Road in rural Sandoval was driving on the Mt. Moriah Road a mile north of the Route 161 intersection when he discovered flames from the engine compartment moving into the passenger area.
King was able to get out safely. Only the frame and engine remained of the cab by the time the fire was put out. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire call came in 11:15 am.
