Salem Police have arrested a 36-year-old Salem man for alleged possession of methamphetamine. Steven West of East Williams was taken into custody following a traffic stop early Monday morning where the Salem canine alerted on the vehicle. Police report in a search that following less than five grams of a substance that field tested as meth was seized along with a scale and meth pipe. West, who was a passenger, allegedly admitted the items belonged to him.
State Police with assistance from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested 25-year-old Ryne Dangbar of Nokomis for aggravated battery and resisting arrest. Dangbar was taken into custody following a domestic along the side of I-57 at milepost 125.
54-year-old Gerald Phillips of East Broadway in Centralia was arrested by Centralia Police for violation of bail bond.
Three others were brought to jail on outstanding warrants.
- 26-year-old Tonnie Pauley of Rough Lane in Salem was arrested in Jefferson County and transported to the Marion County Jail on a felony failure to appear warrant in connection with a possession of methamphetamine conviction. The bond on the warrant was set at $10,000.
- 29-year-old Danielle Ruepke of Dover Street in Centralia was arrested by Wamac Police on a Marion County felony warrant on a possession of controlled substance charge. The bond on the warrant is $5,000.
- 22-year-old Jonathan Altom of East Main in Salem was arrested on a Clinton County failure to appear warrant in a possession of controlled substance charge. Altom was stopped while walking at South Broadway and Kell Street in Salem after police received a report of a man carrying a gun and flashing it. Police say Altom reportedly had a bb gun along with a facemask in his possession. However, the police did not file any new charges against him.
