The state tournament opened up at Rend Lake College for junior high girls on Saturday. In Class L opening round games, Wesclin edged Carriel 48-42, Casey Mt Vernon over Waterloo 63-13, Wolf Branch beat Mt Carmel 43-39 and Marion over Carterville 41-13. The semifinals are tomorrow night.
In Class S, New Hope beat Marissa 36-28, Bartelso over Woodlawn 41-35, TSJ Nashville over Pope County 60-13 and Breese All Saints beat Jonesboro 42-27.
The Class M state semifinals are tonight. At 6pm it’s Okawville and Nashville followed by Goreville and Pinckneyville. The state title game will be held Saturday.
