The IHSA released the post season assignments for the upcoming basketball playoffs. The Salem Wildcats will be in 2a one final time before moving to 3a over the next 2 years. Salem will play in a Sub-Sectional that feeds into the Newton Sectional. They will go to either regional hosts Litchfield or Wood River and compete against Marquette, Carlinville, Gillespie, Greenville, Hillsboro, Pana, Piasa, Roxana, Staunton and Vandalia.
Breese Central, Mater Dei, Columbia, Freeburg, Nashville and Pinckneyville all in the same Sub-Sectional feeding into Pinckneyville.
In 3a feeding into the Springfield Super Sectional, Centralia is a Sectional host. They will welcome teams feeding in from Sub-Sectional A including the Orphans, Carbondale, Effingham, Herrin, Marion, Olney, Waterloo and regional hosts Mount Vernon and Mascoutah.
In 1a, South Central will be a regional host along with Nokomis trying to all advance to the Altamont Sectional. Joining the Cougars in their sub-sectional will be Altamont, Red Hill, Carlyle, Christ Our Rock, Cisne, Dieterich, Edinburg, St Anthony, North Clay, Mulberry Grove, Patoka/Odin, Ramsey, Sandoval and St Elmo/Brownstown.
