The Freeburg Midgets outlasted the Mater Day Lady Knights to win the Fairfield Super Sectional 25-13, 22-25, 25-22 to advance to next weekend’s State Final Four at Redbird Arena in Normal. They will play Elmhurst IC Catholic Friday afternoon at 1:30 as the 2nd semifinal following Genoa Kingston and Illinois Valley Central at noon.
In Class 1a, NCOE won the Christ Our Rock Super Sectional beating Trico 25-16, 25-10. They will play at 10:30 Friday against Springfield Lutheran with Freeport Aquin and Newman Central Catholic at 9am.
Taylorville advanced from the Chatham Glenwood 3a Super Sectional with a 22-25, 26-24, 25-23 nail biter over Normal University. They will play Friday at 4pm against Nazareth Academy at 5:30 following the 4pm game between Joliet Catholic and Wheaton St Francis at 4pm.
O’Fallon dropped their 4a Super Sectional match at Moline to Lisle Benet Academy 10-25, 16-25. The Final Four will be Lisle Benet and Barrington at 7pm followed by Mother McCauley and St Charles East at 8:30.
