The Salem Lady Wildcats season came to an end with their 2a regional semifinal defeat at the hands of Pana last night at B.E. Gum as Salem fell 25-11, 25-14. The Lady Panthers advance to the finals where they will get Newton after the Lady Eagles beat Lawrenceville 25-18, 25-13.
Also last night in 2a regionals at Anna it was Fairfield over West Frankfort and Massac County beat Johnston City. Chester was the site for Nashville over DuQuoin and Carterville beat Murphysboro. At Hillsboro, Breese Central routed Carlinville and will play Staunton after their win over Hillsboro. At Mt Carmel, it was Benton losing to Hamilton County and the hosts over Carmi. At Shelbyville Robinson beat Marshall and the hosts over Vandalia. Sparta was the site as Freeburg eliminated Althoff and Columbia got beat by Pinckneyville in 3 sets.
At the 1a regional held at South Central in quarterfinal action, the North Clay Lady Cardinals beat Clay City 25-18, 25-18. Patoka knocked off Altamont in 3-sets 22-25, 25-17, 25-19. The regionals continue with semifinals tonight as South Central and St Elmo/Brownstown play at 6pm followed by North Clay and Patoka at 7.
Also in 1a yesterday, Windsor beat Casey at Kansas, Webber in straight sets at NCOE over Thompsonville, At Oblong the hosts beat Red Hill and Cumberland beat Dieterich. The hosts at Okawville beat Sandoval 25-15, 25-6 to advance and Father McGivney beat Lebanon in the late game. At Gibault, the hosts beat Madison and Metro East Lutheran over Dupo.
Also today at Gallatin County, Woodlawn takes on Crab Orchard, Windsor and Heritage play at Kansas, St Anthony and Neoga at Oblong, At Okawville the first game will be Christ Our Rock and Valmeyer followed by Okawville and Father McGivney. Gibault is the site for Carlyle and New Athens followed by Gibault and Metro East Lutheran.
In 3a regional semifinals at Bethalto, Mascoutah beat Civic Memorial and Triad in 3 sets over Highland. At Herrin, Centralia advanced with their 25-15, 25-11 win over Mt Vernon and will get Herrin after they beat Effingham in straight sets. At Jerseyville, the hosts lost to Waterloo and Taylorville beat Cahokia. Marion beat the hosts at Olney followed by Carbondale in 3-sets over Mattoon.
In 4a at Belleville East, the host Lady Lancers beat Collinsville. At Edwardsville it was the hosts over Granite City and Belleville West needed 3-sets to beat Alton.
