Bond has been set at $100,000 apiece for two men charged with separate grooming cases.
The grooming charge against 52-year-old Joseph Morrison of Sycamore Street in Iuka states he used his cell phone in an attempt to seduce, lure, and entice an underage female girl by sending messages indicating he wanted to engage in sexual act.
Morrison had the public defender appointed to represent him. If released on bond, he was ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 18. A preliminary hearing is set for October 4th.
51-year-old Derek Purcell of Woodland Drive in Salem was charged with grooming as well as two misdemeanor charges of allowing a person to consume alcohol. Purcell in the grooming charge is accused of attempting to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child to engage in unlawful sexual conduct by telling her she looked good and wished she was older because he would cheat on his wife with her. The two contributing charges accuse him of allowing the child in the grooming charge and another child under 17 to consume alcohol.
Purcell posted $10,000 cash bond. As part of the bond release he was ordered to have no contact with the two juveniles involved in the allegations and no one under 18 except his own children. A preliminary hearing is set for October 5th.
