Salem Soccer had a great kickoff weekend. Across the six teams there were seven games. They won four and lost three.
The 1st/2nd graders traveled to St. Rose for two games. In the first game the lost 1-2, but won the second 3-0. The loan goal in game one was scored by Jonah Findley. In game two, Hadley Michael scored twice and Findley added one more. Ethan Petrillo played great in net. He took the first half of both games and didn’t allow a goal.
The 3rd/4th grade boys and girls both went to New Baden. The boys won 4-3. Goals were scored by Micah Rollins, Addyson Nix, Kennedy Knapp and Piper Stanford. Grayson Frazier did great in the midfield. Trevin Lewis and Kaysen Findley were in net. The girls team won 8-0. Addyson Nix and Stevie Nix both scored three. Laney Kuhns scored twice. Addyson Nix, Brenna Lowry and Aspen Morris combined for the clean sheet in goal.
The 5th/6th boys traveled to Aviston were they suffered a tough loss. Their back line did well pressing up and catching Aviston offsides. Gabriel Thomason grinded out a tough day in net.
The 5th/6th girls traveled to Aviston on Sunday. The lost 1-4. Alyx Pearce scored Salem’s only goal. Gabby Gaston made multiple big saves at goalie.
The 7th/8th graders hosted Mascoutah on Saturday. They started their season out with a 7-1 win. Nicklaus Kahtz started off by scoring in the first minute. Addy Douglas had a hat trick, John Hahs scored twice and Addy Lever scored once.
