Wise World of Wellen presented by Salem Eye Clinic

  1. School backpacks . . . as they are known today . . . were first used at the University of Washington back in 1972. JanSport was based in Seattle then, and they started modifying backpacks for day-hikers to make durable bags for students to carry books.
  2. Ernest Hemingway had 52 cats and 16 dogs.
  3. Donuts only make up 10% of Dunkin’s revenue . . . the bulk of their money comes from coffee. That’s why they dropped “Donuts” from their name in 2019.
  4. People ARE more creative in the shower. When we take a warm shower, we experience an increased dopamine flow that can make us more creative.
  5. Competitive art used to be an Olympic sport. Between 1912 and 1948, the Olympics awarded medals for music, painting, sculpture, and architecture.
