The Aviston Express split their 2 games at the Great Lakes Regional winning their opener over Manitowoc, Wisconsin 4-3 in extra innings. Leading 3-2 in the seventh, Aviston gave up a run on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3. Landon Geragosian then hit an RBI single in the top of the 8th to give the Express the lead. Tyler Robertson then stranded 2 on base as they held on for the win. Conner Freeze had 3 RBI.
Aviston then dropped their 2nd round game last night to the host Midland Post 165 4-3 in 9 innings. The Express took a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning only to see Midland score 3 of their own in the sixth to tie it and then got the walk-off in the 9th. Dalton Borruff went 3-3 with a run scored for Aviston in the loss.
Also yesterday Gladwin beat Muncie 11-1 and Midland over Yeager/Benson 5-0, Eau Claire then eliminated Muncie 11-1, Yeager/Benson sent Manitowoc home with a 5-3 loss. Gladwin beat Moline 6-2.
The schedule for today starts at 11 with Yeager/Benson against Moline in one elimination game, followed by Eau Claire and Aviston at 4 in another. Then the semifinal will see Gladwin taking on Midland in a battle of Michigan.
