The South Central Storm 07 softball team finshed off a great summer schedule by placing 3rd out of 38 teams in the 14U-C division of the USFA Panama City Beach World Series last week.
It started off slow for SC as they dropped 3 pool games on the opening day, July 19, falling to the Big Bend Lightning (Florida), HTX Boom 07 (Texas) and Storm Chasers (Texas).
The Storm came back with 3 straight wins to start their competition in the double elimination bracket on Wednesday, July 20. The Storm beat Middle Georgia Impact 15-0, North Georgia Girls-Estes 8-1 and Storm 08 (Kentucky) 5-3 to move through the first three rounds of bracket play.
On Thursday, July 21 the Storm beat Thundercats (Florida) 7-0 to set themselves up in the final four of the winners bracket.
On Friday, July 22 the Storm knocked off top team, GA Peaches 14U 6-1. The Storm’s tournament run then came to a close on Saturday, July 23 after falling to the RiverCity Diamonds (Mississippi) 3-2 and then to the GA Peaches 3-2 in an elimination game.
