SC 13u Storm Chasers Finish Fantastic Summer At GMB World Series

The SC 13u Storm Chasers finished up their season at the GMB World Series over the weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.  After pool play that saw SC go 2-1 with wins over Gamers Academy 15-2 and Gamers Bucks14-2 and an opening game loss to the Central Iowa Hawks 9-4, SC found themselves the 2 seed and in the Championship Final Four.  SC dropped the game to the Twin City Titans of Festus/Crystal City 10-8.  Trailing by 3 in the final inning, Avery Gullion tripled and scored following an Austin Grieves triple to cut the deficit to a pair with the tying run at the plate, SC came up just short finishing a fantastic summer at 29-13.

In the tournament, Payton Gullion led the Storm Chasers hitting .727 going 8-for-11 with 6 RBI and 4 runs scored.  Trent Ingram finished hitting .600 with 5 RBI and 7 runs, Sebastian Kruger hit .556 with 5 RBI and 6 runs and Carter Spitzner finished .500 adding 3 runs.  As a team, the Storm Chasers hit .406 in the tournament’s 4 games.

On the mound, Boston Isaacs earned a win over Gamers Academy going allowing just 2 hits and 2 runs with 6 strikeouts and then was solid in the semifinal game allowing just 4 runs in 4 innings.  Trent Ingram was the complete game winner against the Bucks going 4 innings striking out 9 and allowing just 3 hits.

Game 1:  Central Iowa Hawks 9 SC 4

A slow start defensively was the difference in the game as SC dropped their opener to the Iowa Hawks.  In the game, SC got RBI from Austin Grieve, Payton Gullion, Kaiden Harrell and Avery Gullion.  Sebastian Kruger had a hit and a run along with Trent Ingram and Boston Isaacs.  garret Shumate and Carter Spitzner added singles.

Game 2: SC 15 Gamers Academy 2

SC bounced back in their 2nd game of the tournament, routing Gamers Academy of St Louis.  At the plate Greive had 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBI.  Luke Shumate, Ingram and Payton Gullion drove in 2 each with RBI also from Kruger, Hayden Prather and Avery Gullion.  Herrell scored a pair of runs along with Spitzner and Garret Shumate also scored.

Game 3:  SC 14 Gamers Bucks 2

SC punched their ticket to the championship final four and earned the 2-seed after pool play with an impressive win over the Bucks.  Payton Gullion went 3-3 with a run and 3 RBI.  Kruger had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs.  SC got RBI also from Herrell and Avery Gullion.  Grieve scored 3 runs, Luke Shumate doubled, scored and drove in 2, Prather and Garret Shumate scored, Boston Isaacs and Spitzner added a hit and a run.

Game 4: Twin City 10 SC 8

SC fell just short of getting to the championship falling 10-8.  Kruger and Ingram drove in 2 runs each, Payton Gullion had 2 hits and scored twice along with Avery Gullion, Prather and Herrell drove in runs and Garret Shumate scored.
