The Salem Select 13U put together a strong day on the diamond Sunday, completing a doubleheader sweep of Marion in convincing fashion. In an unusual twist, both games ended with identical 11-4 final scores as Salem’s offense stayed hot and the pitching staff delivered when it mattered.

 

In the opener, Isaac Knapp led the offensive attack with three hits and crossed the plate three times. Nolan Eddy collected two hits while driving in a pair of runs, and Chase Bohnhoff added a hit with two RBIs. Nolan Krutsinger chipped in with a single and a run scored, while Kash Hall and Kolsyn Erwin each contributed a hit and an RBI.

 

Hall got the start on the mound, allowing three earned runs over two innings. After that, the Salem bullpen took control. Krutsinger and Bohnhoff each tossed two scoreless innings in relief, with both pitchers striking out three batters to help seal the victory.

 

The bats stayed productive in Game 2 as Salem completed the sweep with another 11-4 win.

 

Ryan Wohltman paced the offense with two hits and scored twice. Hall continued his impressive day by collecting two hits, including a double, while driving in two runs. Knapp and Nolan Nussmeyer each delivered RBI doubles, and Tyce Kircher added a single and scored a run.

 

Knapp earned the start on the mound, with Erwin and Kircher combining to finish off the win in relief.

 

The sweep showcased Salem’s balanced lineup and solid pitching depth, as multiple players contributed throughout the day to help the Select improve with a pair of impressive victories over Marion.
