Centralia Post 446 turned in a complete performance Thursday night, cruising to an 11-1 victory over the Odin/Sandoval/Patoka Senior Legion at Spears Field in Odin.
Post 446 wasted little time taking control, breaking through in the opening inning when a passed ball allowed the game’s first run to score. Centralia added to its advantage in the third, capitalizing on an Odin/Sandoval/Patoka error before Preston Feig delivered an RBI single to help extend the lead.
On the mound, Tyler Rottman set the tone with a strong start. The right-hander earned the victory after allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings while striking out four and walking three. Rhett Lambert came on to record the save, and Ben Kunz also contributed in relief to finish off the win.
Centralia’s offense was balanced throughout the lineup. Braxten Martin and Lambert each collected two hits, while Martin and Cody Dobill drove in two runs apiece. Post 446 also showed excellent discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks. Dalton Mullins and Kunz each reached base twice via the walk.
The defense matched the offensive effort, turning three double plays to keep Odin/Sandoval/Patoka from mounting any momentum.
For Odin/Sandoval/Patoka, Brady Cain drove in the club’s lone run, while Ky Walker, Ryker Dodson, and Kru Cain each recorded a hit.
With the victory, Centralia Post 446 improves its summer campaign and will return to action Monday at home when it hosts the Southern Illinois Chiefs 16U.
