The Salem City Council Monday night will swear in a new police officer. Isaac Hays has made a lateral transfer from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department to join the Salem Police force.
The board will be asked to approve a $300,000 grant with the Illinois Department of Transportation to complete engineering study on improvements to Airport Road and drainage issues.
Bids will be opened on a lot at 404 West Schwartz where a substandard home has been torn down. Bids on the property will be accepted at city hall until 4:30 Monday afternoon.
A closed session is scheduled to discuss appointment of a public official and potential sale of property in the industrial park.
Mayor Nic Farley is expected to name his choice for Mayor Pro-Tem for the coming year.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
