Emergency help gathered at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport on Monday afternoon after a pilot received a warning light that all the landing wheels were not down.
Mt. Vernon City Firemen, Jefferson Fire, and Litton Ambulance all responded to the airport. When the pilot of the single-engine plane did a low-level flyover, it appeared all the landing wheels were in place.
The emergency equipment remained on standby while the pilot completed a normal landing.
The Airport Manager first called for the emergency protocol to be put into place at 1:46 on Monday afternoon.
