A rural Junction City home burned in an early Tuesday morning fire.
Sandoval Fire Chief Scott Toler says owner Steve McClaren and two other adults were inside the home at 2636 Old US 51 when they smelled smoke and found a fire around the wood stove. A second call was made a short time later to report the fire was moving through the house. The fire gutted the living room and garage of the single-story home. The rest of the home received heavy heat and smoke damage.
The occupants all got out safely. The Red Cross was called to assist them.
Odin and Centralia Fire Protection District provided mutual aid assistance.
