The Odin Village Board Thursday night approved a 2.79 percent property tax levy increase over last year’s collections. Mayor Greg Smith says the village expects to collect $63,305 in property taxes this year.
The board reviewed its annual audit. There were no findings and only one fund had a negative balance. The trash fund is $10,000 in the red due to not everyone having paid their trash bill.
The board held off entering into an engineering agreement with Henagan and Associates to design replacement of nine miles of waterline in the Selmaville portion of the Odin Water System. The board wanted the village attorney to review the agreement. Odin was earlier rejected by the EPA for a grant to complete the project. They will now seek a low interest loan to be paid back over 40 years by a water rate increase.
The Odin Police Department handled 138 calls during the month. There were no criminal arrests. 12 traffic citations were issued.
