Teresa “Terri” Turnage Davis, 68, passed away after a long illness on Monday, October 13th, 2025, at the Helia Rehab Facility in Salem, Illinois.
She was born on September 20th, 1957, in Fairbury, Illinois, to Robert and Rose (Schuchmann) Turnage.
Terri lived in Fairbury until 1963, when her family moved to Montgomery, Alabama. She attended grade school there until her family moved to Salem in 1967. She attended high school in Salem, was a drum major for the SCHS marching band, was a proud member of the Wildcatettes, and was a member of the One Way Singers, graduating with the Class of 1975.
She later attended Decatur Memorial School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She served as an RN for many years in hospitals and medical facilities in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Columbia, Missouri, Carbondale, Illinois, and finally, Salem and Centralia, Illinois.
Terri loved music—singing, playing the saxophone, and listening to the music of the time. She had an extensive record collection that she still enjoyed. She had a gentle heart toward animals and was surrounded by her many pets for years.
She dearly loved her daughter and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaytlyn Davis and Companion Gary England; two grandchildren, Aaliyah and James Phillips of Salem; a sister, Diane Burgoyne and husband Al of Haymarket, Virginia; and a brother, Bob Turnage and wife Jan of Salem. She had many nieces, a nephew, grandnieces, and grandnephews, who will miss her. Ex-husband Mark Davis of Salem also survives and remained a good friend. Terri had many close friends in the Salem area, and several of her dear pals were with her near the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rose Turnage, and her sister, Linda McGill.
A Celebration of Life party for family and friends is planned for a later date. Online condolences may be left by visiting www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or by visiting the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home Facebook page.
