One Hope United has opened a facility for one of its programs in the Orchard Shopping Center on the south side of Salem.

The Director of Programs for One Hope United’s Intact Services Chanta Love explains the work that will be coordinated out of the new Salem office.

“We assure families stay together.  The referrals come from our DCFS services and we serve several counties around this Salem, Centralia area.”

Love explains the type of help offered.

“We may refer them to different services like mental health needs or drugs services.  We also do parenting services, a lot of time they are mandated to do parenting services and we offer that as well.”

Love says they are successful in helping some parents keep their children who are endanger of having them taken away.

There are currently nine employees in the Salem office, a number that could increase to 12.   The program is moving from Centralia.   Love reports they selected the Salem location because it offered an open concept for workers when they are in the office.   She reports the caseworkers do many home visits and also do some of their work from home.

In addition to the office space, there is a large conference room, and areas for adults and children to relax.
