A 51-year-old homeless Salem man has been charged in Marion County Court with felony failure to register as a sex offender and misdemeanor criminal trespass to real property.

Clayton Worley was arrested by Salem Police over the weekend inside a home undergoing renovation in the 1300 block of South Washington Street.  The owner found Worley when investigating a window broken out of the door where Worley is believed to have gained entry.

The sex registration charge is a Class Two Felony due to a prior conviction.  If found guilty, Worley will have to serve a minimum period of seven days in the Marion County Jail and pay a mandatory minimum fine of $500.

A public defender was appointed to represent Worley.  He’s due back in court on May 21st for a preliminary hearing.
