The Salem Tourism Commission has handed out grants to assist the Little Egypt Festival and the Salem Chamber of Commerce Applefest.
The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce will receive $10,000 for marketing of Applefest. Half the amount will go to out-of-town Facebook promotions, vendor recruitment and police support for traffic direction. The other half will go to regional billboards in surrounding communities and travel corridors, posters, flayers and rack cards for hotels and regional businesses, event signage, banners, and directional signage to find the Marion County Fairgrounds where the event is held. A hotel focused promotional material, visitor maps and local business guides are also planned.
The Little Egypt Festival will receive $2,500 to help with cost increases incurred to host the festival, insurance, trophies, porta potties, etc.
