A 23-year-old Morrow, Georgia man has been sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

James Wooten had pleaded guilty to the charge in November in exchange for aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery with strangulation, and two counts of unlawful restraint being dropped.

Centralia Police say Wooten had confined and committed sexual acts against a woman for three hours last June in the place where he was staying on East Noleman Street.

Reports indicated that the victim began talking to Wooten after dropping off a friend at a nearby home.  Upon his insistence and being told he was armed, the victim agreed to go into his home for a minute and left her car running outside.   She was eventually able to run out the door without any clothing onto the porch where Wooten put his arm around her neck.  The victim was able to slip out of his hold after a two to three-minute altercation.  At that point, she was able to run into a nearby store where she was allowed to stay until police arrived.

The victim was treated at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for her injuries.

In addition to the six-year prison term, Wooten will have to serve one year of mandatory supervised release and ordered to pay a $200 public defender fee.
