A 43-year-old Louisville, Kentucky man faces three felony drug charges following a Wednesday drug bust on I-64 near Okawville where an estimated $500,000 in illegal drugs were allegedly seized.

Trevor Kelsey was formally charged in Washington County Court on Friday with Class X felonies of cannabis trafficking over 5,000 grams and manufacture or delivery of 200 grams of psilocybin or hallucinogenic mushrooms and a Class 1 felony of possession over 5,000 grams of cannabis.

The cannabis trafficking charge indicates Kelsey was transporting the 160 pounds of cannabis from Los Angeles, California to another state for sale.

Kelsey entered a not-guilty plea to the charges.  A judge granted the motion of the Washington County State’s Attorney’s office to hold Kelsey without bond until his next court hearing which is scheduled for February 1st.

The drugs were discovered during a traffic stop by Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Howard and his canine partner Luna.
