Centralia City Manager Kory Smith.

The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to pass a resolution in support of the city receiving a $1.5-million Illinois EPA grant to replace part of the city’s raw water line to Carlyle Lake. The project is part of the construction of a new water treatment plant.

City Manager Kory Smith notes the raw water line has demonstrated repeated past failures. The new line has already been designed and permitted by the Illinois EPA. The city hopes to go out for bids on the project late this year or early next year.

The council will be asked to pass another resolution to grant use of Raccoon Lake for the annual National Boat Racing Association event on August 17th and 18th.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
