A 60-year-old rural Patoka woman was killed when her car was hit by an Amtrak passenger train on Westline Road in rural Odin late Friday afternoon.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon pronounced Sheri J. Foltz dead at the scene.
The coroner reports Foltz was traveling southbound on Westline Road about a half mile north of US 50 when her vehicle was struck by the Amtrak train that was traveling southwest towards Centralia.
The crossing is marked with cross-buck signage only.
Cannon says Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and United Medical Services arrived soon after and provided resuscitation efforts to no avail.
Illinois State Police personnel are completing the report on the crash. Odin Fire Department personnel also responded and assisted.
The Day/Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval is assisting the family with arrangements.
