The Salem Community High School Board Monday night heard its annual audit report.
Superintendent Dr. Brad Detering was pleased the district kept its 3.8 financial rating on the 4.0 scale and remains in strong financial condition.
“4.0’s in 4 of the 5 categories and in the fifth one the only reason we didn’t is our long term debt when we took out bonds in order to do the HVAC project we did in the summer of 2022, so just because we’ve sold some bonds we have less bonding capacity, so it brings that score down just a little bit. But we are satisfied that all the other metrics such as what we spend and what we take in are scored at a 4.0.”
The audit also showed the district had 394 days of cash on hand. James Murphy of Leymone Hardcastle CPA in Salem presented the report and thanked the district staff for their assistance in providing the data.
Principal John Boles commended the SCHS volleyball team on their Pink Out game that raised more than $10,000 for Faith Evans who is battling cancer. The proceeds are given to a different person battling cancer each year.
The board hired Iva Balla as the Academic Challenge sponsor.
