A 22-year-old Centralia woman just released from the Marion County Jail under the cashless bond law Friday afternoon was back in custody Saturday night after being arrested by Salem Police on new charges.
After initially giving Aryana Morgan of D’Ann Drive a criminal trespass warning following an incident at Moto Mart she went back inside allowing her to be arrested under the new law. As police were attempting to take her into custody for retail theft, she allegedly kicked the officer leading to an additional arrest for aggravated battery to a police officer.
Morgan had been released without bond on new charges Friday afternoon of possession of under five grams of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Morgan faces an extended term if found guilty due to a past conviction. She had been released with the condition she appear in court for a preliminary hearing on October 24th. The public defender had also been appointed to represent her.
Centralia Police had brought Morgan to jail on Thursday for violation of an order of protection. No new charges were filed in connection with that incident, with the State’s Attorney’s office instead filling the drug charges that stemmed from a May arrest.
