Salem Police have arrested a 37-year-old Salem man for resisting arrest, assault, being a pedestrian walking in the roadway and being an intoxicated pedestrian in the highway. James Phillips of Jeanne Drive reportedly was in the 1300 block of South Broadway screaming for help, but then cursing those who were trying to assist him. When police approached, Phillips allegedly refused to stop walking and when he resisted being taken into custody he was taken to the ground and was handcuffed after a taser had been placed to his back. He was taken to the Marion County Jail and later released on a notice to appear in court.
28-year-old Kaeleigh Pannell of South Sycamore in Centralia was taken to the Marion County Jail by Wamac Police for alleged violation of bail bond.
