The Kinmundy Labor Day events took advantage of great weather to draw big crowds to the car show, park activities, and the parade.
The South Central FFA sponsored the car show for the third year. Sponsor TJ Bolin says 40 more vehicles participated in the car show overflowing into new spaces around the park.
“It’s an amazing turnout and great weather. We had 140 cars here. It looks like we had a lot of people to have visited the park to come see the cars and the other things going on in the park today.”
Bolin says members of the FFA worked to promote the show and assisted with putting on the show.
Mayor Angie Diss was also pleased noting the Lions Club had sold out of the 200 chicken dinners they had available.
“We’ve got a lot of people in the park, lots of cars, and food trucks. We’ve had a really really good turnout.”
The Best of Show winner for the car show was Josh Dunahee of Salem with a 1972 Chevy Chevelle. A large number of other awards were also handed out.
The parade was led by Marion County Fair Queen Kaitlyn Banning and featured a large amount of emergency equipment, the South Central Band and Cheerleaders, antique tractors, horses, and several business and church entries.
