The Centralia Fire Department was called to the Yamato Restaurant in the Crooked Creek Crossing strip mall next to the Best Western Thursday night after an automatic alarm sounded.

Firemen say a sprinkler head was also activated due to the smoke from a small fire that had started in a cardboard box near the back door of the kitchen.   The sprinkler put out the fire, but then couldn’t be shut off until a key to the room with the sprinkler equipment could be located.

Firemen say the kitchen floor was flooded, but most of the water ran out the back door.  Some ceiling tiles were damaged, but there was no fire damage.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.   The fire call came in at 7:45 Thursday night.
