Corn and soybean crop conditions continue to improve in Illinois
This past week was slightly cooler and wetter than normal in most parts of the state. Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says soybeans were blooming on 95% of acres.
“Soybean conditions improved and were rated 9% very poor to poor, 21% fair and 70% good to excellent. The condition of the Illinois corn crop also improved and was rated 9% very poor to poor, 27% fair and 64% good to excellent.”
71% of corn acres have reached the dough stage and 20% have hit the dent stage. The third cutting of alfalfa hay is now 55% complete and average.
Statewide topsoil moisture came in at 3% very short, 13% short, 66% adequate and 18% surplus.
