Bond has been set at $25,000 for a 25-year-old Centralia man who is accused of entering a Centralia home without permission on July 12th.

Joshua Scott was formally charged in Marion County Court Thursday with felony criminal trespass to a residence knowing one or more persons were present and felony domestic battery for allegedly striking one of the occupants in the head with his hand. The charge is a felony due to a past domestic battery conviction.

Centralia Police say they had been called to a home in the 1400 block of Holly Street to a report of someone breaking into the home but no longer on the scene. The homeowner knew the man as Scott who was not allowed to be at the residence or have contact with the resident due to a previous court order.

Police were told Scott, after being told to leave, grabbed the hair of one of the occupants and struck her in the back of the head. He then allegedly grabbed items belonging to the homeowner and departed. Police say the alleged victim attempted to retrieve the items but was shoved into a fence by Scott.

Police report Scott was gone on their arrival, but was located when they responded to an unrelated call on Wednesday and was taken into custody.

If released on bond, Scott was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her home. The public defender was appointed to represent her.
