A 26-year-old Centralia man wanted in connection with weapons charges following a dog shooting outside his home on Saturday has turned himself in.
Jarvis Brown of the 200 block of East 7th came to the Marion County Jail early Wednesday night. He was initially booked into the jail on an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation warrant.
In announcing they were looking for Brown earlier this week, Centralia Police said he was facing charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and animal cruelty.
Centralia Police say Brown shot one of his dogs after it got in a fight with another dog. He had gone back inside the home before leaving. After getting permission to search, a gun was found inside the home. The other occupant, 32-year-old Kelly Taylor-Schulte, was also arrested for production or possession of cannabis plants and endangering the life/health of a child after seven cannabis plants were allegedly found growing inside the closet of a bedroom where her children were staying. In another court hearing this week, DCFS took protective custody of her six children pending any further court action.
