The Centralia American Legion has successfully raised the extra $10,000 needed to pay for this year’s 4th of July fireworks display. The legion’s Wayne Sensel is thanking the community for stepping up to cover the increased cost from the show provider.
“The whole community and communities around, individuals, businesses they all responded and made it possible for us to pick up the extra $10,000 and we appreciate everybody’s support. They all stepped up and helped out in ways that they could and we really appreciate all of it.”
The fireworks display will conclude the American Legion’s annual Homecoming Celebration in Fairview Park at ten Tuesday night.
The Legion’s annual Homecoming begins Saturday and will run nightly through Tuesday. The carnival will be held 6 to 10 each night with a $25 armband each night. Sensel says more rides are being added this year. Bingo will be played each afternoon in the CN Pavilion from one to four. A car show is planned on July 4th, with registration from ten am to one pm. The 4th of July Veterans Parade is at one Tuesday afternoon. It begins at Chestnut and Broadway and will proceed down West Broadway to Fairview Park.
