There is now free Wi-Fi on the Marion County Courthouse square during courthouse hours.

Marion County Circuit Clerk Tiffany Schicker says the service is being provided through a grant.

“You can bring your electronic devices in the court house now.  You can’t use them in the individual offices without permission of the office holder and you cannot use them in court.  But in public spaces, we do allow those devices.  It’s a full signal.  It extends out to the sidewalk as well so you can use it out on the lawn.”

Schicker says an initial visit is set for June 29th to review the courtroom layout for the first phase of an upcoming $300,000 technology upgrade being provided by another grant.

Schicker is currently working on another grant for a ‘massive’ data integration project that will result in a lot of additional requirements on her office.
